DECA students honored at board meeting

DECA students from Grand Island High School were recognized by the Grand Island Town Board at Monday’s joint meeting with the Grand Island Board of Education. The group recently returned from Rochester, where they competed in the annual New York State DECA Conference March 5-7.

DECA promotes leadership, social responsibility, civic consciousness, and vocational understanding in various business related categories.


Sara Kurpiewski received a proclamation for her first place in the state for public speaking.


Ciara Morreale received a proclamation noting her Top 10 finish for apparel and accessories. Sisters Brittany and Courtney Papaj also received proclamations at the meeting noting their top ten finish in the job interview category.
