Klidonas will not seek re-election Niagara Wheatfield Tribune, March 6, 2008 Three seats will be up for election this spring on for the Niagara-Wheatfield Board of Education, with one incumbent already announcing he will not seek re-election. Board member Demosthenes (Denny) Klidonas announced his decision not to run at last week’s board meeting, but added he was not ruling out another run for the office in the future. Klidonas said he wanted to be able to spend more time with his four children. He works as a program manager for Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara and with his wife, Beth, owns and operates the First Step Childcare Center in the Town of Niagara. “I encourage anybody to run,” he said, noting he has enjoyed his first term on the board. Board members Donald Moyer Jr. and Michele Hoerner said they do intend to seek re-election. Potential candidates must turn in petitions with a minimum of 31 signatures to the district clerk’s office by Monday, April 21, according to Kerin Dumphrey, business manager. Copies of petitions are available now in the clerk’s office. The district election is set for Tuesday, May 20. |
