Gleason’s gymnasts compete in Niagara Cup

Gymnasts representing the Niagara Gymnastics team from Gleason’s Gymnastics competed at the prestigious Niagara Cup on March 9. The event was held at Canisius College’s Koessler Center and featured gymnasts from across the northeast United States.

Representing the Niagara level 6 team were Cassie Mangan and Jessica Szeliga. Szeliga competed in the 12 and up age group where she placed third on the balance beam with her score of 9.250. She was also strong on the floor, where she earned a 9.075, good for fifth place. Her all-around score of 35.200 put her in fourth place for the meet. Cassie Mangan, a fourth grader at Errick Road Elementary, had her high score of the day on floor, a 9.30, which was good for eighth place.

Competing in the level 5 group was Katie Wagoner. Wagoner, a fifth grader at Errick Road Elementary, scored a 9.0 on the bars. She was also impressive on the balance beam, earning an 8.80.
