St. Peter’s hosts ‘Stand Up to Bullying’ day

Lewiston Porter Sentinel, March 15, 2008

On Feb. 8, St. Peter R.C. School in Lewiston had a “Stand Up to Bullying” day. The school was decorated in pink and white balloons and streamers to celebrate this day. Walls were covered with pink anti-bullying pledge sheets from children in grades pre-K to eight. Students wore pink and white tops and ribbons to symbolize a bully-free school. Each classroom teacher took time throughout the day to make students aware of what a bully is and how to deal with a bully. A representative from Prevention Educators came in to discuss with the students the characteristics of bullies and their victims, strategies to safely respond to bullying at their school, and bullying scenarios. The St. Peter’s faculty and students all signed a bully-free wall to represent no bullying in the school. That will be on display for the rest of the school year to remind students of the bully-free zone.
