Titans set new Niagara District record

Grand Island Dispatch, March 7, 2008

The Town of Tonawanda Titans took 65 swimmers to the STAR A-B-C swim meet from Feb. 15 to 17, including several from Grand Island who registered record-breaking times.

Over the course of the meet, there were seven new Titans’ club records set and one new Niagara District record. Among the highlights:

•Joe Martin set a new AAAA Titans club record in the 1,000 freestyle. Martin had United States Eastern zone qualifying times in the 50 freestyle (“AAAA” time), 200 individual medley (“AAAA” time), 500 freestyle (“AAAA” time), 50 butterfly (“AAA” time) and 50 backstroke (“AAA” time).

•Kristin Millar earned a personal best 200 breaststroke by slashing 3.77 seconds from her swim.

•Ian Eisenberger had a personal best swim in the 50 backstroke. Eisenberger had rewarding first-time swims in the 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.
