St. Stephen Mission Club project aids homeless

Grand Island Dispatch, March 7, 2008

St. Stephen School’s Mission Club project was to make cookies and sell them in order to buy men’s socks for people who live on the streets of Buffalo. Club members rolled cookie dough, cut out shapes, baked and frosted more than 800 cookies. Grades 1-8 helped in this project. The cookies were sold during Catholic School’s Week and during the lunch periods that week at school. The club made $130 with about 30 pairs of socks donated towards the goal. The money and socks will be used by an organization called “Heart for the Homeless.” This ministry has a mobile soup kitchen that provides meals for the homeless in the Buffalo area.
