Stainbrook nets 38 in St. Peter’s Sanborn win

DuWayne Stainbrook of St. Peter’s Sanborn scored 38 points to lead his team to a 70-40 win over St. Paul in week 13 action of the Lutheran Basketball Association Men’s League.

Chris Bullwinkle added 14 points in the victory.

For St. Paul, Bob Pepperday and Shawn Reimer scored 11 points each.

In other Lutheran Basketball Association results:

Community Bible 65
St. James 60

Mike Gibbons scored 27 points for Community Bible in a 65-60 victory over St. James. Tom Bradley added 13 points in the win. Brad Milleville topped St. James with 18 points and his brother, Bruce, had 14 in a losing cause.

St. Matthew 52
First Trinity 38

Jeff Russell scored 18 points to lead four St. Matthew players into double figures in points. Dan Smith and Ryan Essenburg both scored 11 points and Bryan Wolf added 10.

Eric Opferbeck topped First Trinity with 12 points and Christian Bell added 10 in defeat.

Women, Week 7

St. Mary’s 49
St. Mark 41

Martha Amoretti scored 10 points, while Rose Polk added nine, for St. Mary’s. Liz Waston led all scorers with 21 points for St. Mark.

St. Matthew II 31
St. Paul 22

Julie Murray scored 10 points in a defensive struggle. Kelly Schake and Jennifer Ratka added nine each for the winners.

Jen Schepis led St. Paul with six points.

St. Matthew I 42
Community Bible 36

Shawn Strausbaugh scored 14 points in leading St. Matthew over Community Bible. Janet Finley chimed in with 10 points in the victory.

Community Bible had 14 points from Samantha Hutchins in the loss.
