Tribune, January 17, 2008 It was raining three-point shots in the Lutheran Basketball Association Women’s League last week. In Week 6 action of the LBA Women’s League, Amanda Stange scored a game-high 12 points on four three-point shots to lead Community Bible to a 42-30 win over St. Matthew II. Her teammate Amanda Baluch added nine points on three three-point shots as well. Jennifer Ratka topped St. Matthew II with eight points in defeat. In other results posted in the Lutheran Basketball Association: Women St. Mary’s 34 Patrina Leo scored eight points in the win for St. Mary’s. Janet Finley topped St. Matthew I with 14 points in a losing cause. St. Paul 28 Ann Mucica and Stacy Hildreth scored 10 points for St. Paul. Alva McFarland topped Holy Ghost/St. James with nine points and teammate Jane Wilson added eight points. Men First Trinity 75 Eric Opferbeck scored 22 pints and Tim Passage tossed in 18 to lead First Trinity to victory. David Hoffman chimed in with 11 points and Andrew Passage had 10. For St. Peter’s Sanborn, DuWayne Stainbrook led all scorers with 25 and Todd Conklin had 18 in a losing effort. Community Bible 68 Twenty points from Mike Gibbons and 18 from Steve Becker sparked Community Bible to the win. Jeff Broeker topped St. Matthew with 13, followed by Ryan Essenburg with 12 and Bryan Wolf with 10. St. Mark 64 Mike Hromowyk scored 16 of his 22 points and Matt DeVantier scored 14 of his 16 points in the second half as St. Mark erased a 40-20 deficit at the intermission. Andrew Davis had 18 points as well for St. Mark. For St. James, David Lyman and Joe Brooks had 14 points each. Bill Milleville chipped in with 12. |
