Winder a black belt

Nathalie Winder, an eighth grader at Veronica E .Connor Middle School, completed testing and received her first Dan Black Belt in Karate on Jan. 11.

Winder has been training with Master Thomas Joseph for just more than five years at the American School of Karate on Baseline Road. She is the 32nd person to have reached the black belt level with Master Joseph in the 25-plus years that the school has been in operation. She is one of the youngest to achieve this honor. Winder joins Mike and Don Symington (father and son), Ian Conner and Rachel Starr as the new black belt recipients.
