Schools work together to benefit Relay For Life Grand Island Dispatch, December 28, 2007
It’s a win-win situation when middle schoolers and elementary students can team up to benefi t their larger community. And that’s exactly what happened during this holiday season between Mrs. Fonte and Mrs. McHenry’s family and consumer science students at Veronica E. Connor Middle School and Mrs. Lipp’s third graders at Huth Road Elementary School. The halls of the middle school were fi lled with the aroma of 1000-plus, freshly baked sugar cookies, which the students prepared, wrapped and froze as they raised money for the 2008 Relay For Life event scheduled for the first Friday in June. Pictured above left are Connor Middle School students Talia Fabiilli, Laura Kondziela, Sarah Brady and Amber Carpenter readying the cookies for transport to Huth Road Elementary School for the big cookie sale. Above right, having fun with frosting from left to right are: Alex Turner, Tiffany Perla, Jason Kubanek and Mrs. Schmitt. |
