Sidway
students send Grand Island Dispatch, December 21, 2007
Students at Sidway Elementary School created holiday greeting cards for troops overseas. United States Army recruiters Sgt. First Class Smith, Sgt. First Class Dombrowski and Staff Sgt. Mateo visited Sidway on Nov. 30 to collect more than 400 cards to be sent to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. The soldiers spoke to the students about how thankful the soldiers overseas are to receive messages from students, especially at this time of year. The students expressed their appreciation for everything the troops do through their written messages and drawings. Pictured, back row, from left, are Smith, Dombrowski and Mateo with students Forrest Carr, Kayla Caldwell, Simone Smith, William Person, Kaitlyn Hollederer, Liam Hart, Gabriella Sciortino and Eric Scalise. |
