Chris Mongielo, the chief cook, serves up a turkey and biscuit dinner to patrons at the Grand Island Knights of Columbus on Election Day as John Donner, chairman of the event, looks on. More than 200 diners enjoyed the offerings. Proceeds from the dinner, held annually, benefit the Grand Island Neighbors Foundation, Hospice and sponsor the education of a seminarian at Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora, who will be ordained a Catholic priest in December. Look for another fundraising dinner at the Knights of Columbus on Whitehaven Road in January. (photo by Larry Austin)

Nadina Villano, far left, gets ready to vote for the candidates of her choice on Election Day. Standing next to her are three election inspectors from District No. 10, which was at Kaegebein School. From left, Diane Quackenbush, Roger Fabin, and Evelyn Lewis. Of the 689 voters registered in that district, close to 44 percent came out to vote. (photo by Donna Webb)
