Ministry hosts fundraiser for ‘Lockport’s Grand Opry: Caring Canines Gone Country’ Oct. 13 Lewiston Porter Sentinel, October 6, 2007 That grand, old Opry is going to the dogs. On Saturday, Oct. 13, Yme? Ministry presents “Lockport’s Grand Opry: Caring Canines Gone Country.” The charity concert will benefit Canine Helpers for the Handicapped, a non-profit organization dedicated to training dogs to assist people with disabilities in leading more independent and secure lives. The event will be held at the Historic Palace Theatre, 2 East Ave., Lockport. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Show time is 7:30 p.m. “Lockport’s Grand Opry” is an homage to the Grand Ole Opry, the world’s longest running radio program. The Palace will resemble the Opry House stage, and a half-dozen acts will feature blue grass music and family oriented comedy. There also will be basket and silent auctions featuring autographed music memorabilia. The show’s main act is Nashville recording artist Scott Partridge. In addition to performing at the real Opry, Partridge has lent several songs to NASCAR. A late ’90s album featuring those tunes sold more than one million units. Supporting acts include Dustin Knapp, Paula Adams and Sterling Pollaro. Tickets for “Lockport’s Grand Opry: Caring Canines Gone Country” are $12. They can be purchased at the Palace Theatre; at Mills Jewelers, 51 Main St., Lockport; the Middleport Family Health Center, 81 Rochester Road, Middleport; and at Canine Helpers, 5699 Ridge Road, Lockport. For more information on the event, call 438-1130 or visit www.lockportpalacetheatre.com. Yme? Ministry is online at www.ymeministry.org. |
