White seeks re-election to Porter Board Lewiston Porter Sentinel, October 6, 2007 Town of Porter Councilman Lawrence H. White has announced his plans for re-election this November. A lifelong resident of the Town of Porter, White was raised on the family farm. “I learned early to appreciate a hard day’s work,” said White, who added the farm has been in his family since 1803. A graduate of Lewiston-Porter, he attended Niagara County Community College, and for several years worked as a welder and fabricator at Emil VonDungen in Lockport. “While there, I became a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and served as a shop steward and treasurer.” In recent years, White was employed at the E.I DuPont plant on Buffalo Avenue in Niagara Falls first as a welder, then as a maintenance supervisor. In 2000, he was appointed as a mechanical reliability resource official and currently serves as a contract administrator. White reports that over the past 40 years, he has been active in the Porter community, with membership in a number of organizations, including: Ransomville Volunteer Fire Co.; Lewiston-Porter Jaycees – serving as a state director, secretary treasurer and vice president; Lewiston-Porter Youth Football – serving as vice president and president; the Youngstown Yacht Club -- serving as vice commodore (two years), commodore, Level Regatta maintenance and engineering chair (10 years), on the YYC advisory committee and as a member of the International Organization of the Blue Gavel; and the 3F Conservation Club. “My commitment to the Town of Porter is as strong as the commitment that my family has made to this community over the past 200 years,” said White. “I will continue to strive to keep the taxes down while maintaining the quality of services that help to make the Town of Porter a great place to live and grow. I am proud to represent all the residents of the Town of Porter. Please give me your vote on Election Day, Nov. 6,” White closed. |
