Minarcin announces candidacy for Porter Town Clerk

Lewiston Porter Sentinel, October 6, 2007

Michelle (Metke) Minarcin, a member of the newly revived Town of Porter Democratic Committee, has announced her candidacy for Porter Town Clerk. She will also appear on the Positive Change ballot line on Nov. 6.

Minarcin graduated from Lewiston-Porter High School in 1985 and has lived in the Town of Porter most of her life. She is married to Thomas D. Minarcin Jr. and has an 18-year-old stepson, Trey.

She has worked for a variety of local firms, including Niagara Leasing, Rich Transportation, Delphi and more recently, Modern Corporation -- in customer service, invoicing, scheduling and documentation. “I have the perfect qualifications for this position and it’s an opportunity for positive change in my community that I want to be a part of,” she said.

Minarcin noted that the current town clerk is retiring and that it’s an appropriate time for a “fresh start.” As an example, she said the Porter Town Clerk’s office shuts down for an hour at lunchtime and currently does not have evenings or weekend hours. “I would like to see the hours of operation expanded for better convenience and more accessibility for the residents,” Minarcin said. “Getting the job done on time, within budget and to the customer’s satisfaction is what it is all about.”

Michelle and Tom are both active in the community. Michelle is a member of the Youngstown Lions club and they both volunteer for Kiwanis, the annual Bowling Tournament for Developmentally Disabled adults, along with fundraising for the Gliding Stars and Cystic Fibrosis.
