Fire Engine Rides

Grand Island Dispatch, October 26, 2007

Last week, lucky students were selected to be picked up from their homes by a Grand Island fire engine for a ride to school. At Huth Road Elementary School, Principal Mary Haggerty greeted the students as they arrived on campus. Olivia Turck, Ian Hardison and Brandon Weissman arrived on one fire engine, and Victoria Botticello, David Bauman and Jordan Cooke arrived in another. The school thanked all of the volunteer firefighters for coming to their school during Fire Prevention Week to teach all of the students about fire safety.

At St. Stephen School, Victor Freeman, Ronald Loss, Justin Wohlfehrt and Jenna Bruno were each selected for the unique opportunity as part of Fire Prevention Week. St. Stephen School also thanked the volunteers who came to teach the children, as well as all those in the fi re company who unselfishly give of their time and talent to protect the community.
