Coroner’s daughter eyes town clerk seat Niagara Wheatfield Tribune, September 6, 2007 Mary Joyce, endorsed by the Democratic Committee and the Working Families Party, has announced that she is a candidate for Wheatfield town clerk. “DeEtte has done a tremendous job on behalf of the residents of Wheatfield for over three decades,” said Joyce about the retirement of current Town Clerk DeEtte Ferchen. “She has developed a town department that is well organized, professional and efficient. I will strive to maintain that strong level of customer service while incorporating new and exciting ventures for the residents of our community.” Joyce would like to implement evening hours for the town clerk’s office, expand voter participation and work toward a more efficient and open form of government. “In today’s society, people have hectic schedules. We must recognize this fact and provide an office that can meet those demands and needs.” Joyce said. “I will work hard to ensure that all business related to our Town Board is open and accessible, especially on the Internet, to all our residents in a timely manner.” Joyce feels that her managerial and customer service experience and education make her well qualified for the position. Joyce’s previous work experience includes 10 years at Gray Line of Niagara Falls, a sight-seeing company, where she worked her way up to dispatch office supervisor. She currently is co-owner of Delicate Details & Powerwashing Inc. She attended Niagara University where she majored in business management. She also is a graduate of Niagara Falls High School. Joyce, 34, is the daughter of Coroner James Joyce of Wheatfield and Amy Joyce of the Town of Tonawanda. “Like many new families who have decided to raise their children in Wheatfield, I am thrilled to be part of such a wonderful family-oriented community, and I want to be as actively involved with the town as I can be,” she said.
