Welcome back to St. Stephen!

Grand Island Dispatch, September 7, 2007

Michele Fusco, religion teacher at St. Stephen Roman Catholic School, greets students coming off the bus on the fi rst day of school. Also at the main bus entrance are Donna Ende, principal, and the Rev. Paul Nogaro of St. Stephen Church.

Wednesday was the first day of school for children at St. Stephen Roman Catholic School on Baseline Road. All things considered, the first bus drop-off ran smoothly, according to school officials. Several students brought flowers for
their teachers on the first day.

A total of 17 buses made a stop at St. Stephen on Wednesday to drop
off parochial school students before heading on to Sidway Elementary.

Mrs. May’s second grade class began with attendance and help from the teacher in an early assignment.

Soon after getting to Miss Pasko’s first grade class, students started the day with the Pledge of Allegiance and a morning prayer, below, before hitting the books, above.

Fusco was greeted warmly by many of the returning students at St. Stephen.

Rebecca Cacciatore’s pre-kindergarten class at St. Stephen was full of enthusiasm on the
first day. “No criers in pre-k,” said Principal Donna Ende early Wednesday. “That’s huge.”
