Landmark dismantled

Grand Island Dispatch, September 21, 2007

The Carl Road water tower came down Monday one piece at a time. The 150,000-gallon tank had been out of service for 20 years. Work crews from Iseler Demolition of Michigan began at approximately 5:30 a.m. and ended after 2 p.m. Workers used blow torches to cut the steel before a crane removed the bowl of the tank in pie-shaped slices.
