Paddles Up Niagara brought hundreds of people to the shores of the Niagara River at Beaver Island State Park for a 4.6-mile recreational paddle. Before the launch, there were vendors displaying kayaks, canoes and camping gear of all kinds – even freeze-dried food. Kayak lessons were part of the offerings, as well. A luncheon afterwards was sponsored by the Grand Island Historical Society on the grounds of River Lea at the state park. (photos by Michael J. Owen)
