Erie County Sheriff Terry Guenot and Rikor, a 6-year old German shepherd were on hand to demonstrate the dog’s abilities. Rikor’s training has enabled him to become certified in obedience, patrol work and tracking (which involves finding someone based on footprints and signs of trampled grass, twigs, etc.). The dog has also been specially trained to attack on command and to sniff out many different drugs, including marijuana, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamines and Ecstasy. (photos by Donna Webb)
