Cliffe seeking re-election as Wheatfield town justice Niagara Wheatfield Tribune, June 21, 2007 Robert B. Cliffe has announced his intention to run for another term as town justice in the town of Wheatfield. Cliff said he wants to continue the progress the court has made in recent years, while helping the residents of Wheatfield “one case at a time.” The Town Court oversees misdemeanor criminal matters, vehicle and traffic charges, town zoning issues, small claims and weddings. “Town courts are the courts closest to the people. Over time, our daily decisions impact the lives of virtually every town resident, generally in a positive manner,” Cliffe said. “Justice is best obtained with judicial respect: respect for the defendant before you, the officer or person making a charge, the attorneys presenting their views and, most importantly, respect for the law. Remaining impartial in all matters and treating all persons the same yields the best possible results for Wheatfield.” Cliffe and his wife, Andrea, have four children, the youngest graduating this year from Niagara-Wheatfield High School. He is a longtime town resident who is active in many organizations, as well as manager of a small, local manufacturing business. A Wheatfield Lions Club member, Cliffe also manages the highly successful Niagara-Wheatfield club hockey program and is involved with the Wheatfield Blades hockey program. Cliffe is a past member of the Niagara-Wheatfield School Board, past president of the National Tooling and Machining Association and the Down’s Syndrome Parent Group, past treasurer of the Wheatfield Blades and current registrar of the W.N.Y. High School Club Hockey Association. Cliff will be running on the Republican, Democratic, Conservative, Independence and Working Families lines in the November election. Cliff said he will continue the fine tradition of town justices in Wheatfield, especially important with the rapid growth that is being experienced by the town. “Your support will be greatly appreciated,” he said. |
