Ceretto announces re-election plans

Niagara County Legislator John Ceretto has announced that he is a candidate for re-election in the 12th District.

For 10 years, Ceretto has served on the Lewiston Town Board prior to his being elected to the County Legislature. He is currently a member of the County Legislature’s standing committees on Administration, Community Services, Refuse Disposal, and Community Safety and Security. Ceretto’s attendance record at legislature sessions and standing committee meetings ranks highest among his colleagues.

He serves on the Niagara County Fire Advisory Board, the County College Advisory Committee, and was recently appointed to the Niagara County Bicentennial Committee. In addition he is a member of the community advisory committee dealing with environmental concerns relating with refuse disposal.

During his tenure in office, Ceretto has kept close ties with all the people he represents by sponsoring community forums, publishing a newsletter and by being open and available to the needs of every citizen. He cites that the fiscal condition of Niagara County has improved during his tenure, and points out that issues such as quality of life and fiscal responsibility have been among his foremost concerns in his public service.

“Many important issues are facing our county, and I intend to offer an independent and dedicated voice to working for the good of the people of this community,” says Ceretto. “Among these issues are improvement of the county’s economy and holding down taxes, while supporting the needs of the constituents.”

Long active in the community, Ceretto was recently honored for 25 years of civic involvement. He is an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Lewiston and serves on the advisory committee for their annual Peach Festival as well as chairman of the pop tent for the event. He is a member of the Lewiston Historical Society, the Sanborn Historical Society, Friends of the Lewiston Library, the Lewiston Council on the Arts, and Lower Niagara River Moose Lodge No. 584.
