Hundreds brave storms at Relay

Lewiston Porter Sentinel, June 16, 2007

Beset by high winds and heavy rains, the Lewiston-Niagara Relay for Life opened for its 10th annual run last Friday to a somewhat smaller, but none-the-less enthusiastic and dedicated group of participants at Academy Park in the Village of Lewiston. “I know we all had our challenges this year with a new venue, but you all pulled through and put on a great event,” said Cindy Burger, community executive for the American Cancer Society. She reported the Relay’s total at $75,000 as of Monday – short of the organizers’ stated goal of $100,000, but the planned summer fundraisers “will surely bring us closer to our goal.” In the photos, participants join in the leadoff Survivor’s Walk on the Academy Park grounds.
