“Wheel of Fortune’s” “Wheelmobile,” the show’s promotional vehicle, visited the Erie County Fairgrounds Gaming and Raceway last weekend in search of talented game players. Viewers interested in being a potential contestant on an upcoming episode were invited to attend. Approximately 3,000 fans came out, filled out an application, and several were chosen at random to play a simulated version of the game onstage, while also being evaluated as a potential contestant for the broadcast version of the show.

“The Wheelmobile tour gives us the opportunity to present local viewers with a unique and personal experience with the show. It’s a way for us to thank our viewers for their long-term support, and for making the show No 1,” Executive Producer Harry Friedman said.

Since its inception in 1999, the “Wheelmobile” has logged more than 200,000 miles and has visited more than150 cities. More than 600,000 “Wheel of Fortune” fans have attended “Wheelmobile” events.

“Wheel of Fortune,” which debuted on NBC in 1975, currently airs weeknights at 7 p.m. on WKBW ABC Ch. 7. It is the longest-running syndicated television game show in U.S. history. Hosts Pat Sajak and Vanna White have been at the helm since the show’s inception.
