Rockin’ and jazzin’ in Lewiston

Niagara Frontier Publications, June 21, 2007

Summer is getting underway just fine in northern Niagara – home to a different concert on almost every night of the week. Above, a little rain prior to a performance by the Little River Band didn’t stop a few thousand concertgoers from coming out to enjoy week three of the “Tuesday in the Park” free outdoor concert series at Artpark. Those who did make the trip to Artpark were treated to a splendid summer sunset and the tunes of (pictured left to right) Rich Herring, Billy Thomas, Stephen Housden and the Australian-born Little River Band, best known for chart-toppers such as “Reminiscing,” “Lonesome Loser” and “Lady.” The free series continues next week, June 26, with John Kay and Steppenwolf. Below, it was the sounds of Dick and the JBs who graced the Hennepin Park gazebo for “Jazz Wednesdays,” presented by the Lewiston Council on the Arts. Shown performing center stage is Jack Prybylski, who returns to Hennepin next week for another evening of spicy jazz. Check out both venues for some great sounds this summer.
