Summit springs into summer Niagara Wheatfield
Tribune, April 5, 2007
The Summit was truly “Sprung” from the grip of winter this past weekend as thousands visited the mall for the first-ever “Spring Into Summer” Outdoor and Recreation Show. More than 30 displays and groups participated in this event, which featured three shows by Jeff Musial and Nickel City Reptiles and Exotics, pictured at right. “Our centercourt had over 1,000 people for the three shows,” said The Summit Marketing Director Peter Green. “The mall was consistently busy for the full two days. Visitors enjoyed a petting zoo, wildlife rehabilitation display, radio controlled cars, a golf driving range, campgrounds, activity groups, local tourism, the Niagara River Anglers’ fish pond and conservation group shooting trailer and much more.” A highlight of the event, almost unknown to anyone except those at the petting zoo at the time, was the set-up of a triage center for an injured hawk. The Niagara County Sheriff’s office brought a wounded hawk to be treated by the wildlife rehab team that was running the displays. More festivals and events are planned for The Summit.
