The eighth annual Lewiston-Porter All Sports Boosters Scholarship Basketball Game took place at the Lew-Port High School gym on Thursday, March 1. The alumni team was caught up in a tight game, with the teacher/administration team finally defeating them by 10 points 50 to 40.

The Players in Progress teams performed for the crowd after each quarter and at halftime. Thanks go out to coaches Paula Singleton, Stevie Ingram, Chrissy Hymiak, Diana Trane, Dick Lindamer and Jen Heim for orchestrating this wonderful presentation. At this event children enjoyed having their faces painted by Miss Oney, while Donuts the clown, (James Donoughe) made them balloon animals.

In addition there was a Chinese auction during the game, with over 50 baskets raffled. The assortment of baskets was donated by All Sports Boosters members, Apple Granny’s, Artzee, Brennen’s Restaurant, Cathy’s Hairport, Dairy Queen of Niagara Falls Boulevard, DiCamillo’s Bakery, Enchanted Florist, Fantasy Village, Favorites Pizza, Lewiston-Porter United Educational Employees, Lewiston-Porter United Teachers, Main Street Pizza, Mangia Cakes Bakery, Popcorn Emporium, Steelhead Restaurant, Stuarts Sports, Tin Pan Alley, Lewiston Tops, the Village Bake Shoppe, and VIP Salon of New York.

Carol Lombardo, Boosters vice president, reported that over $700 was raised this year for future scholarships. Each spring two $500 and 10 - $200 scholarships are awarded to deserving Lew-Port athletes. All participants had a great time at this fund-raiser. Many thanks to all those who helped make this event a huge success.
