Gleason’s Gymnastics win in Stony Brook, Orchard Park Niagara Wheatfield Tribune, February 22, 2007 Optional gymnasts from Gleason’s School of Gymnastics went to the Big Apple over the weekend to compete in the Winter Wonderland Meet, held at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. For the Level 10 team, Nicole Irving from Sanborn competed in the senior division. She placed third on bars with 8.75, fourth on beam with 8.7, sixth on bars with 8.7, and sixth on vault with 8.7, placing her eighth all-around with 34.85. Representing Niagara Gymnastics Level 8, in the 15-plus division, Kara Mangus of Wheatfield placed ninth, helping her team to a third-place finish. Lauren Logar of the Town of Niagara competed in the 14-year-old division and earned third place on floor. The Niagara Gymnastics Team, Levels 4-6, from Gleason’s Gymnastics attended the Nickel City Classic State Qualifier, held in Orchard Park on Sunday, Feb. 11. For the Level 6 team, Lydia Tenberthy placed fourth all-around and had a high score of 9.25 on vault. Jessica Szeliga from Niagara Falls scored 9.45 on beam and placed seventh all-around, while teammate Jenna Brick from North Tonawanda scored 9.35 on beam. The Niagara Gymnastics Level 5 team had gold on their minds, winning the team competition and capturing three of the four age group all-around championships. Richelle Kloch (North Tonawanda) was the top scoring gymnast in the competition and captured firsth all-around (37.575), on floor (9.625), and on beam in the 10-year-old class. Kloch also finished second on vault and bars. In the 7-9 age group, Danielle Thaler (Wheatfield) won the vault competition with a score of 9.525 and finished fifth all-around. In the 11 year olds, Payton Klidonas (Niagara Falls) won the all-around with a score of 37.00 and finished first on beam (9.80) and floor. Melissa Schmidt (Wheatfield) finished first on the bars and third all-around. For age 12, Ashley Gendron (North Tonawanda) medaled in all events and finished seventh all-around. Bailly Barone (North Tonawanda) finished sixth on bars and 10th all-around. For the Level 4 team, age 10, Kathleen Wagoner from Wheatfield took fourth place on floor, fifth on bars, and fifth all-around. |
