Johnson reappointed Western Region VP of state realtors

The New York State Association of Realtors Inc. has announced that Michael Johnson, GRI, has been reappointed as a NYSAR Western Region vice president. Johnson took his oath Feb. 5 during the association’s inauguration ceremony, held in conjunction with its business meetings in Albany.

Johnson, a Town of Lewiston councilman, has been a realtor for 30 years and is currently an associate broker with Realty USA in Lewiston.

A former president of the Niagara Frontier Association of Realtors, Johnson is a member of the Buffalo Niagara Association of Realtors, where he serves on the Board of Directors and its government affairs committee. He is also chair of the Realtors’ Political Action Committee and is a New York state certified instructor.

At the state level, Johnson has served on or chaired various association committees, including its Board of Directors, RPAC, as well as on its executive, international real estate and legislative policy committees. He is member of both the commission protection and sellers disclosure working groups. He is also a member of the New York State Commercial Association of Realtors and served as 2006 president of the New York State Society of Real Estate Appraisers.

A past director of the National Association of Realtors, Johnson has served as federal district coordinator to both former U.S. Rep. John LaFalce and incumbent U.S. Rep. Louise Slaughter, D-28th District.

Other endeavors include Johnson’s membership on the Niagara County Planning Board, the Greater Buffalo Partnership and the Lower Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce. Honored in 2005 as the Lewiston Democratic Committee’s Democrat of the Year, and as a member of Realty USA’s President’s Council, he is former chair of the Special Task Force to Save the Niagara Falls Air Base.
