Daffodil Days sales continue through March 1 by Terry Duffy Despite the ongoing wintry weather, spring is drawing ever so close, and with that comes an annual special activity to benefit the American Cancer Society. Daffodil Days, a fund-raising endeavor whose proceeds go directly towards cancer research, has been on the Western New York scene since 1970. Since the beginning of this year, volunteers have been out and about, targeting area businesses, schools, hotels, health clubs and more, taking Daffodil sales orders for delivery during the week of Monday, March 19. Sales of the ever-pleasing daffodils continue through Thursday, March 1, throughout the area. The American Cancer Society reports that four package offerings are currently available: •Fresh cut flowers, sold for $10 per bunch. •A potted plant of daffodils, available for $10 per four-bulbed pot. •The Gift of Hope – an attractive package of cut daffodils in a vase for $20, that will be delivered to a local health care facility designated by the American Cancer Society to help brighten the day of a patient. •Bear and a Bunch – freshly cut daffodils, 10 per bunch, which comes with a 2007 Limited Edition Boyd’s Bear for $25 (available while supplies last). The American Cancer Society invites area residents to join in the immensely popular Daffodil Days campaign by placing an order.
