Relay pound auction March 31 at Trinity Grand Island Dispatch, February 23, 2007 Come to an afternoon of laughter, fun, celebration with family and friends and the opportunity to help raise funds benefiting the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life. The second annual pound auction will be held on Saturday, March 31, at 1:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church, 1453 Staley Road. Here’s what you do: Find a pound of something, wrap it uniquely (disguising what you brought). You don’t want it to be obvious that it is a pound of candy or flour. The ideas are endless. Bring your wrapped item with you, and the other attendees will bid on it at auction. All items are auctioned off in 25-cent increments. Members of the Relay team, “The Garden,” said participants are sure to have a great time at the auction. The more guests, the more pound items, the more funds are raised on behalf of the Grand Island Relay For Life. The Relay is a fund-raising project in which teams are formed and members show their commitment to fighting cancer by raising funds for use in research and cancer programs. Teams walk around the Grand Island High School track starting on Friday, June 8, and overnight to the morning of Saturday, June 9. For reservations for the auction or more information, contact one of these team members and auction organizers: Karen Sturniolo at 773-9342, Wendy Koch at 298-4752 or Cindy Imerese at 775-1022. |
