Town of Niagara crews praised for storm aid Niagara Wheatfield Tribune, December 7, 2006 Town of Niagara Highway Department personnel earned high praise last month for their efforts in helping Williamsville recover from the October snowstorm. The mayor of the Village of Williamsville, in a letter to Town of Niagara Highway Superintendent Michael Moyer, personally thanked Moyer for the town’s support both during and after the Oct. 12 storm that hit the area. Mayor Mary E. Lowther wrote: “I know you are aware that we in the village were among the very hardest hit by this devastating storm. Your help in getting our village up and running in record time was wonderful. You should be very proud of your DPW team. They were very valuable to our village and I appreciate their hard work. Allowing them to come to Williamsville and help us was a fabulous gesture of inter-municipal cooperation and an example of how all areas can and should work together.” The storm destroyed trees, cut off power and closed major roadways in the Town of Amherst for over a week. |
