Platinum Wireless opens on Island Grand Island Dispatch, December 1, 2006
Platinum Wireless officially opened for business on Tuesday with a ribbon cutting at its new location at 2295 Grand Island Blvd., in the Town Hall Plaza. Owned and operated by Jim Heller, an Island resident of eight-plus years, the store -- an authorized Cricket dealer -- represents his second local Platinum Wireless entry with another located in Buffalo’s Riverside section. “There wasn’t much of a presence of the cell phone industry on the Island,” remarked George Fitzpatrick, the store’s manager, who added the new store was intended to provide “fellow Grand Islanders with more options.” Shown in the photo (left to right) are Grand Island Councilman Richard Crawford; Town Clerk Patty Frentzel; Town Supervisor Peter McMahon; Fitzpatrick; Beverly Kinney of the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce; Heller; and the chamber’s John Bonora and Mike Welch.
