Fund-raiser hopes to support GI music boosters

The second annual Holiday Basket Raffle is set to run this month, with all proceeds to benefit the musicians in the Grand Island High School Orchestra, Concert Band and Wind Ensemble.

Volunteers will seek contributions prior to the holiday concerts on Dec. 13, 14 and 19 by selling chances to win gift baskets. Baskets range from simple restaurant certificates to sporting events tickets to personal creations.

Donations help defray costs for any number of projects, such as trips to competitions out of town.

Island instrumental groups have a tradition of excellence. The Wind Ensemble was awarded first prize at the prestigious Dixie Classic in Chicago this past April. Contributors are asked to consider creating a theme basket and to deliver the basket donations to school the week of Monday, Dec. 4, to Friday, Dec. 8.
