Basket auction items needed for Sabres alumni basketball game Lewiston Porter Sentinel, October 14, 2006 Donations are still needed for the basket auction being held in connection with the Buffalo Sabres alumni basketball game on Thursday, Oct. 19, at the Lewiston-Porter High School gym. The 6:30 p.m. event pits Sabres alumni against members of the Lew-Port faculty, all for a good cause. Profits will go toward the LED message sign for the Lew-Port schools. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door Some of the Sabres alumni who will be playing are Rob Ray, Ric Seiling, Richie Dunn, Mike Boland and Craig Muni. There will be an autograph session during half time, with a limit of two items per person. The High School Partners in Education is seeking parents and businesses to donate baskets or various items that could be used to build baskets for the Chinese auction. All donations should be received before Tuesday, Oct. 17, so the children can prepare them for the event. The main office at the high school will receive the donations during school hours of 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Suggested items for the baskets are: coffee or tea; holiday items; gift wrap; food; movie tickets and rentals; lotions; jewelry; music; sports items; children’s activity items; school supplies; books; and gift certificates to stores, restaurants and other businesses. Of course, since this is a school function, organizers gratefully decline baskets with alcoholic beverages. For more information, call the high school main office or Jane Ziobrowski of the High School Partners in Education at 754-4198. |
