Committee exploring a 2008 Sidway Reunion

The Sidway Reunion committee met on Monday in the Community Room of the Grand Island Memorial Library to plan for the fourth reunion of Sidway School classes. The reunion is for classes from the time the school opened in February 1937 through the graduating class of 1963.

The following volunteered to be officers for a 2008 reunion:

•Chairman: Judy Schmidt

•Co-Chairman:Marianne Ward

•Treasurer: David Dusenbury

•Secretary: Nancy Sandford and Sonja Miller

Schmidt will look into the possibility of having the reunion at the Holiday Inn, Grand Island (Riverview Room) on Saturday, July 5, 2008, from approximately 1 to 8 p.m. The committee is planning on an attendance of approximately 400-500 people. It will be for adults only.

Committee members present were: Peggy Hooper, Paul Malecki, Shorty Vanthoff, Terry Swain, JoAnne Vanderheite, Kathy Smith, David Dusenbury, Marianne Ward, Hazel Rowe, Teddy Linenfelser, Dianne Swick, Nancy Sandford, Debbi Robinson, Judy Schmidt, Joanne Miano and Karen Keefe.

The next meeting of the Sidway Reunion Committee will be Monday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. in the Grand Island Memorial Library.
