hosts grand reopening

Niagara Wheatfield Tribune, September 28, 2006

Mention Smokin Joes and most people think of gasoline and cigarettes. On Oct. 14, visitors to the Smokin Joes Trading Post will think of diamonds and gold.

That day, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., the jewelry department at Smokin Joes Trading Post will celebrate a grand reopening. According to Jennifer Pauly, a marketing coordinator with Smokin Joes, customers can meet and greet the staff and jewelry vendors and enjoy discounts throughout the day, plus take part in prize giveaways.

Pauly invited new and old customers to “come back and see our new look, the new selection. It’s much bigger. The selection is much bigger than any other time we carried jewelry. We have everything from gifts for kids to engagement rings to anniversary rings to watches.”

Now in its 15th year in the jewelry business, the department carries chains, pendants, bracelets and earrings, and jewelry in 14 karat and 10 karat gold.

“We now buy gold and diamonds as well, so people can turn in gold and diamonds to use towards credit to maybe buy something better,” Pauly added.

She said everybody knows jewelry sales associate Ann Agnello, an eight-year veteran of the department. What sets apart Smokin Joes jewelry is “our low prices, and tax free,” Agnello said. “You can’t beat that.” She also noted the fine line of jewelry, with its variety of 10, 14 and 18 karat offerings, along with platinum pieces, and a wide selection of brand name watches.

As mentioned, not everyone associates Smokin Joes with jewelry, but “the ones that do know about it are here every month buying,” Agnello said, laughing.

On Oct. 14, the visitor is in for “a pleasant surprise” when they see the jewelry department in the trading post, Pauly said.

“We’ve made so many changes inside, when you walk in here you’ll feel like you’re being taken care of and you’re in a professional setting,” Pauly said.

Smokin Joes just shot a television commercial to air in October, highlighting changes at the store located at 2293 Saunders Settlement Road.
