Riverwalk gets another approval by Larry Austin After a public hearing, the Lewiston Town Board gave final plat approval to phase 2C of the Riverwalk development. Riverwalk developer Joseph Deck Jr. said the final plat mirrors the preliminary plat already approved by the board last year. The phase consists of 24 cluster homes of approximately 2,100 square feet in size and $170,000 in price. Riverwalk met with opposition from residents in the Lower River and Pletcher roads area. It includes plans for patio homes in an area near Pletcher Road, Lower River Road and the Joseph Davis State Park. Two residents commented about drainage issues during the public hearing, hoping that the board makes that issue a priority. Town engineer Robert Lannon said “from an engineering standpoint, we feel everything is in order.” Lannon spoke with residents outside the meeting about outstanding issues regarding two lots. Deputy Town Attorney David Boniello suggested that the town file contingencies as outlined by Councilman Michael Johnson with the subdivision map. Also at the meeting: •Richard Skurski spent his first day as the new town building inspector. He replaces Robert Coulter, who retired earlier in the year. Newlin said Skurski impressed the board during the interview process. There were three applicants with over 100 years of experience, Newlin noted. Skurski was hired following an executive session on Aug. 28. The board also noted the passing of Sunday of David Quarantillo of the Lewiston Highway Department, who died in a motorcycle accident in Brockport. Quarantillo was like a brother to Highway Superintendent Steve Reiter, Newlin said. |
