School superintendent search updated Grand Island Dispatch, September 29, 2006 The Grand Island Central School District Board of Education recently completed preliminary interviews of candidates for superintendent of schools. Donald Ogilvie, Erie 1 BOCES District superintendent, is serving as the consultant to the board in its search for a new superintendent. The vacancy was advertised from July 10 through Aug. 25. Ogilvie and the board then reviewed the applications of all interested candidates and identified semi-finalists. Following the semi-finalist interviews the board and consultant will meet to identify finalists for the position. An advisory committee is being organized, comprised of individuals from different school and community groups that have been selected by the groups themselves. Individuals from each school building, employee bargaining units, community organizations, parents and central administration will serve on the committee. The committee’s responsibility is to interview finalists selected by the board and provide feedback on the candidates’ qualifications. The board will then conduct finalist interviews and make their selection. It is anticipated that an appointment might be made in mid-December, with the new superintendent assuming responsibilities sometime thereafter. The district said the timeline is subject to change. |
