Gilewicz attends BelCanto choir camp

Grand Island Dispatch, September 29, 2006

Grand Island High School student Tom Gilewicz recently participated in a season-opening camp for the Bravo Choir of BelCanto at the Clarence Town Park.

The camp focused on team-building, music theory, music reading and group sound, said Sue Fay Allen, the choir’s artistic director.

The mission of the BelCanto Choirs is to develop within the children of Western New York a love of high-quality choral music through performance. Participants work to increase their skill and musicianship, while developing a fine vocal tradition. BelCanto nurtures artistry, discipline, teamwork, self-expression and growth. BelCanto choir members perform special concerts in a variety of venues. This season, students have been selected from 33 different Western New York schools to participate in BelCanto’s three choirs: Presto for students in grades 4-6; Vivace for treble voices grades 7-12; and Bravo for mixed voices grades 9-12
