Creation Science Seminar is Oct. 7 Grand Island Dispatch, September 29, 2006 Western New York’s first area-wide Creation Science Seminar, called “Thousands … Not Billions,” will be held Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Hearthstone Manor in Depew. Geologist William Hoesch, of the Institute for Creation Research in Santee, Calif., is presenting the seminar. He will present, in layman’s terms, Biblical and scientific evidence for creation and a young Earth. Grand Island High School student Brittany Stallard, 16, will emcee a related event for youth on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at The Chapel at Cross Point in Getzville. Stallard was home-schooled until ninth grade, and has advocated for the teaching of creation science in public school. The topic of creationism vs. evolution is a high-profile topic in public education, as schools and courts tackle the issue of whether to include creation science in the public school curriculum. The day’s events include: •8 to 9 a.m.: Registration and fellowship. •9 a.m. to noon: Prayer, opening remarks and two morning sessions with Hoesch. Also included: Testimony, Q&A opportunities, a coffee break and special music. •Noon to 1 p.m.: All-you-can-eat lunch buffet. A violin ensemble will present special Gospel music. •1 to 4:30 p.m.: Additional sessions with Hoesch, testimony and Q&A. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 674-9427. |
