Benefit for Sheri Robinson-Cooney is Oct. 29

Grand Island Dispatch, September 29, 2006

A benefit will be held on Sunday, Oct. 29, for Sheri Robinson-Cooney to help her meet medical expenses associated with treatment for a very aggressive form of breast cancer. The event will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Grand Island Rod & Gun Club, 1083 Whitehaven Road.

Sheri is a lifelong Grand Island resident and devoted mother of four children. She has worked as a waitress at the Village Inn and Apple Granny’s, as well as serving as a lunch monitor in Island elementary schools. Surgery and a lengthy course of chemotherapy have prevented her from working for several months, and she will not be able to work for several more months.

The fund-raising event will feature a basket auction, a 50/50 split raffle and a chance to win Bills and Sabres tickets. The admission price of $20 per person includes food, beer and soda. Admission is free for children under 5, and there is a family rate of $50.

Theme baskets and raffle items of all types are being accepted. Contact Dana Robinson, 775-1322, or Kathy Yensan, 775-0472 to help.
