The Grand Island Chamber of Commerce is once again sponsoring its Youth Ambassador Program to promote interaction and goodwill between local students and the business community.

The program is designed to recognize the youth of this area, and select two Youth Ambassadors who will represent Grand Island at town and school functions, as well as community and business events. Now in its 10th year, the program is open to all Grand Island residents attending grades 10, 11 and 12 in high school on/or off the Island, for the 2006-07 school year.

The Chamber thanks the following for contributions received so far: Rockwood Brothers Collision; Douglas Wright, DDS; Town of Grand Island; Grand Island Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 180; Carol Ann’s Hair Fashions; Assemblyman Sam Hoyt, D-Buffalo, Grand Island; Erie County Legislator Michele Iannello, D-10th District; Interim Grand Island School Superintendent Lawrence Zacher; First Niagara Bank; and Creative Leather Concepts.

The scholarship applications are available at all area schools’ guidance offices and at the Chamber of Commerce, 2257 Grand Island Blvd. You may also call the Chamber at 773-3651. All completed applications must be submitted to the Chamber office by Friday, Oct. 6.
