Grand Island splits two golf matches in first week

The Grand Island Vikings team started the golf season with a 12 1/2–11 1/2 win over Kenmore West.

For GI, Chris Rajczak, Jeremy Chopra and Larry Loveless were key players in the victory. Rajczak shut out his opponent 4-0, Chopra took 3 from his, and Loveless made a clutch 6-foot putt on the ninth and final hole for a 1-point swing in his match. Rajczak and Loveless led the team with scores of 39.

In the second match in the first week of the season, the Vikings were not as impressive. They lost to North Tonawanda 16-8 with Grand Island’s Darin Delsignore the only bright spot for the team. Delsignore was the only victor, taking 3 points from opponent and sharing medalist honors with a 41.
