Marisa Saulino memory walk June 17

Niagara Wheatfield Tribune, June 8, 2006

A memory walk honoring former Colonial Village Elementary School student Marisa Saulino will be held on Saturday, June 17, at 1456 Saunders Settlement Road, Niagara Falls. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. The opening ceremony will be held at 9:45 a.m., with the walk slated for 10 a.m. Refreshments will be served following.

Marisa battled leukemia for four years, three while attending Colonial Village. She had a strong sense of school spirit and never let her illness deter her from the joy of learning. After Marisa could no longer attend school, she still came to visit her classmates and teachers. It was at those visits that she would tell her classmates how important school was and how lucky they were to be attending.

Money raised from the walk will go toward the creation of the Marisa Saulino Scholarship Fund.
