Macri’s opens patio at The Summit

The new patio at Macri’s Italian Grille is now open for business.

Macri’s Italian Grille recently established patio seating at its new location at The Summit on Williams Road, Wheatfield. The addition fits in with owner Gary Macri’s vision of a new style for his long-standing, well-liked establishment, which inside sports a brighter, more colorful décor than the former Niagara Falls City Market location.

“I wanted a whole new look,” he said of the changes. As for the patio, he said, “I thought it would be nice to have.”

While the look has changed, the menu remains the same at the mall. Pasta specialties – reasonably priced and family friendly – remain abundant. Steak and seafood selections abound, and Macri’s continues to offer this writer’s favorite dish, the pasta italiano. At $11 a plate, the dish, comprised of a haddock topped with mozzarella cheese and homemade sauce, served with a side of pasta, is both a bargain and a treat.

Also new, Macri said, is the rise in business. Moving out of the city because of its economic situation, the restaurateur has embraced Wheatfield’s business-friendly climate.

“I’ve lived in Wheatfield for 20 years. I saw it (moving to the mall) as an opportunity,” he said.

Macri’s Italian Grille is open Monday through Saturday, from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
