‘Putting for Penguins’ golf fund-raiser July 14

Lewiston Porter Sentinel, June 24, 2006

The Aquarium of Niagara will hold its inaugural “Putting for Penguins” golf fund-raiser on Friday, July 14, at 5 p.m. at the Newfane Pro-Am Par-3 golf course, Route 78/Main Street, Newfane.

The event will feature a fun-filled “best ball” golf tournament that is open to anyone who can swing a club. Teams of four will hit the course at 5:30 p.m. Registration will start at 5 p.m.

Following a party break at 7 p.m. for pizza, refreshments, music and a raffle, golfing will continue from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. While a fish-themed golf attire is optional, players are advised to bring flashlights and bug spray.

“This is a first for the Aquarium, that could become an annual event,” said Gay Molnar, director of development at the Aquarium of Niagara Falls. “It will be a good time for all while doing something fun that will help out the facility.”

A registration fee will be charged. Golfers registering as foursomes will receive a discount on the registration fee. Party-only tickets are also available for non-golfers.

Individual golfers will be matched up with others at the event.

Registration forms are available at the Aquarium of Niagara, 701 Whirlpool St., Niagara Falls. Deadline for registration is Friday, July 7.
