Locks of Love

Grand Island Dispatch, June 9, 2006

Grand Island High School art teacher Cindy Wynne reports that her Art Club kids have talked her into cutting her hair to raise money for the fi ght against cancer. “I have agreed to cut 1 inch for every $25 they raise,” she said. I currently have approximately 30 inches of hair, and will cut it as far as my cheekbones – if they raise that much.” She said the individual who brings in the most the most donations will be allowed to do the snipping. The cut hair will be sent to “Locks of Love.”

Donations are being accepted by Art Club members, or you can send it to the high school in care of the “Cut Mrs. Wynne’s Hair” campaign.

But there’s a new twist to the hair-cutting campaign. “Apparently a confl ict began within the club, and a ‘Save Mrs. Wynne’s Hair’ faction has begun,” Wynne said. “If you would rather donate to that, please do so in the same manner. Whether I cut or I do not cut will depend on which group raises the most money,” she said.

“In either case, the event will end at Relay for Life at 8 p.m. – right at the Art Goobers Club tent. Yes, that is actually what those wacky art club kids named their Relay for Life team!”

Wynne looks forward to the Relay and to a lively contest. “Thanks (I think!) in advance for supporting a great cause,” Wynne said.
