VFW sponsors summer events

The Charles N. DeGlopper Memorial VFW Post, 2121 Grand Island Blvd., is sponsoring several events this summer, including:

•The Independence Day parade and Dick Bessel Road Race and kids’ race will begin July 4 at 9 a.m. on Grand Island Boulevard. Fireworks will begin at dusk at Martin’s Fantasy Island. The rain date will be July 5.

•A Fourth of July party and open house will be held at the post. Volunteer assistance is needed.

•On July 15, the VFW and Moose Lodge No. 180 are joining together to have a fund-raiser for member Barb Cody. The fund-raiser will be held in the pavilion at the post.

•On July 30, the annual Dick Pendleton Memorial Super Cruise Car show will be held, with proceeds going to the Boys and Girls Club of America.

•A family picnic on Aug 12, from 1 to 7 p.m. at the VFW post. Reservations are necessary.
